Our story

Built to bring
music back.

Born from years of playing, collecting and listening — and from a belief that every town deserves a proper music hub.

THE FACES BEHIND KEEP AUDIO

Musicians, listeners and the people bringing a proper music hub back to Launceston.

01THE FIRST SHOP

Bringing the musical spark back to Launceston.

Back in the 1980s, Launceston had a wonderful record shop of its own, Rhythm and Rhyme — the kind of place that made music feel present in the town. In more recent years, that spark had gone missing. We felt its absence, and we knew other musicians, collectors and curious listeners did too.

After years spent playing, collecting and listening, we decided to create the music hub we wished Launceston still had. Keep Audio Co. became the place where that experience could live — not behind a screen, but in conversations, recommendations, live sessions and records handed across a counter.

When we opened our first shop, the castle keep stood opposite. It gave us a name, but it also gave us an idea: that music is something worth holding onto, protecting and passing on.

THEN & NOW

A bigger shop.
The same purpose.

We have since moved into a new and better home. The old gatehouse is now outside our front door, so the castle remains part of the story. What matters most has stayed exactly the same: keeping music at the heart of town.
